Subject: MASN Zoom Program Directors Call Follow Up

For those on the MASN Zoom Program Directors call on October 6, 2020 you heard from your DESE supervisors that programming must be taking place whether: virtual, hybrid, or in-person. This past summer we asked for programs to submit plans for operation for the 20-21 school year. With COVID-19 we realize that the plans will be very fluid. We understand this and will be as flexible as possible with all of our federally funded afterschool programs. Now that school is in session in some form across the state,  programming (in the safest manner possible) must be taking place in order to claim reimbursement. Please note: we understand the number of children and adult family members served will be, in some cases, substantially smaller and FY 20-21 budgets should reflect that. If your program is not operating in some form please contact your DESE supervisor. If there has been a change from your original plan please let your DESE supervisor know as you MUST receive prior approval from DESE for any changes to your approved grant design or implementation. There has been constant language in each 21st CCCLC application: “ If awarded, the grant award is for immediate implementation of the afterschool program.”  Again we understand there will be modifications and we will work with you to ensure you are impacting as many youth, and their family members as safely as possible. However, maintaining communication regarding any of these modifications is vital.
