Missouri School Read-In Day is just over two weeks away, on Friday, March 12! Watch this video message from Missouri First Lady Teresa Parson and Commissioner of Education Margie Vandeven who take time to talk about this special recognition day and the importance of reading in the lives of children.
Many schools typically celebrate School Read-In Day by having visitors and special guests come to school and read to students. Because events may look different this year due to COVID-19, we’re encouraging Missourians to sit down and read with a child in their life or donate a book to your local school or non-profit organization to support our future leaders.
We’re also excited to offer a Facebook Live Virtual Story Time event with the First Lady and Commissioner Vandeven on School Read-In Day on Friday, March 12 at 10:00 a.m. We hope schools and educators, as well as families learning at home, will mark their calendars so students can join us for this special event!
