The goal of the 2022-23 STEM Peer Learning Community (PLC),
supported by a grant to MASN from the Million Girls Moonshot (MGM) initiative,
is to equip afterschool educators with the tools to facilitate effective
learning in STEM. The PLC will focus on expanding content through STEM
Playlists and enhancing delivery through Reflective Coaching modules.
Afterschool educators who participate in
the program will:
- Experience
personalized professional development to deepen skills.
- Access STEM
Playlists – curated, sequenced lessons – to implement with youth.
- Receive 1:1
coaching in STEM education principles.
- Build
relationships with peers who are doing similar work.
Benefits
- Improved STEM
facilitation by educators to increase students’ interest and abilities in
STEM
- Develop a network
of STEM afterschool educators to advance individual and group capacity
- Scholarship to
attend the 2022 MOSAC Conference (registration and 2 nights hotel)
- $500 stipend for
developing and sharing a STEM Playlist with the PLC
Eligibility
Anyone who provides STEM education in the afterschool setting is urged
to apply. This can include, but is not limited to, frontline staff, STEM
coordinators, STEM educators, teachers, and program directors/coordinators that
work with directly with youth leading STEM education activities. This PLC can
accommodate scholarships for 30 afterschool staff through the Million Girls
Moonshot funding.
